| Etiquette Help/Advice?
I kind of feel like I'm about to hit a very awkward situation. My annual evaluation is coming up at my job. For the most part I can't stand the teacher I work for so awhile ago I put in for a transfer. My evaluation is on Wednesday and well I have an interview on Thursday for a new position which I've pretty much have been guaranteed the job. Should I drop the bomb tomorrow or wait until after my evaluation? Either way I'm sure I'm going to make my time in the classroom even more hell...but I can't figure out how to play it out... The job is pretty much certain because I've already worked in the classroom before, they've said they want me back and the teacher in that classroom is in charge of the hiring. |

You haven't got the job yet. Nothing is for certain. Keep your mouth shut, and stick to the subject, your job performance. Not what and when you are doing on the new job. It is always good to focus and do your best in the present. Focusing on the future all the time can make you miss stuff now.

Honestly, wait for your evaluation to be over and the interview the next day as well. Even though you have been "pretty much guaranteed the job", sh*t happens and you don't want to be out of a job and with a bad reputation for dropping the bomb during your evaluation. It's more polite to make sure you 100% have the second job before you even mention it to your current employer. Even if you have a close relationship with them, you still don't want to get them thinking about you leaving if the scenario changes and you end up staying. Good luck, either way, though |
