Where can I learn the driving etiquette?

I have a foreign driver's license and a learner permit in NYS. I am a new driver, even in my home country, I had only drove in the driving school with supervision, but...I drove by myself after I got to America(NYS allows people with foreign license to drive). I have to admit it was scary, and even to other's disatisfaction, I sometimes still drive slow or "reckless" concerning my safety. I want to know American's driving habits here. I know these things are not written on the driver's manual. Is driving school a good place to learn about the etiquette?
