Is it right etiquette to request uneaten food, which you ordered in restaurant, to be packed and taken home?

Of course. It's absolutely acceptable.Everyone does it, and most servers will ask if you want them to pack it up for you to take.

i would ask for it to be packed up for me... there is no shame in ityou paid for it.. why waste good food .. when you are in a hard situation in your life where you cant afford food then I'm sure you will be looking back on that day and wish that you took that food homethere are people out there starving to death on our streets.. I'm sure they would appreciate that food.. dont waste it.

Yes it is alright. Most places will ask you if you would like a box.

I'm a waitress, and the only time it's ever seen as a little ridiculous for someone to ask for food to go is when they only have a bite or two left. In your case, it would be rude NOT to take it! That's just a waste! OF COURSE you should take it home!!!

I would do exactly the same thing except I would be very gracious and apologise for the non arrival of two guests. Most places would be happy to give you the food that you paid for.

Ask for a "doggie bag" and the restaurant will gladly provide you with a container of some sort to take your uneaten food home with you.
