No, thats fine if you hate your mother...otherwise a visit and a present wouldnt hurt.

I got her a dozen red roses, Reeses (they are her favorite candy) and a really nice card. But the moment lasted about 5 minutes, lol.By the way, you should call your mom again so that it looks like you made an effort, and if she doesn't answer you could be like "Well I tried to call TWICE, but I got no answer. " Lol. ^_^My dad and mom are so funny...I was like, "Dad, why didn't you get mom anything for Mother's Day?" and he's like "Because she's not my mother." And my mom doesn't care at all. :-)~

I'll say that a message is good enough as long as you included "so give me a call back". That way if she doesn't you're off the hook. If not...you might have to bite the bullet and do it again. Or not. Maybe she'll forget by next year?

If you said, "Hi, mom. Call me back!" then you are good to go. It is up to her to call you.

I think the proper etiquette is to not dread calling your mom. She's a pretty nice lady. Well at least she was last night...

This is where you start capitalizing on her advancing age. When you talk to her later (whenever you damn well feel like it) and she asks why you didn't call, tell her you DID and that she is seriously starting to scare you. Cry a little. It works wonders and is fun too.
