| proper ebay seller etiquette??
For most transactions, there are 2 times a seller may want to contact a buyer after the auction. 1) Invoices If you have eBay Checkout enabled (it's the default in your seller preferences), you *do not* have to worry about sending invoices if you included all the payment info in the auction. eBay automatically calculates the total including shipping, insurance if applicable, and even discounts if you've specified any in your Seller Preferences. The buyer can immediately access this right from the auction page and complete the transaction without any prompting. So, sometimes there is very little or even no contact between buyer & seller. If you didn't add all the relevant payment info to the auction (e.g., if you didn't provide a precise shipping quote), you'll need to input the exact amounts into an invoice and send it yourself, preferably soon after the auction.I also send invoices if the payment time-line is almost up as a friendly reminder that payment is due shortly. If you have disabled eBay Checkout, you'll need to create an invoice for each buyer individually with the 'Send Invoice' option on each auction page.2) Post-ShipmentIf your buyer purchased insurance and/or Delivery Confirmation, you should send the buyer the tracking number soon after shipment. Many sellers who don't provide these services will still alert buyers once the item ships. It's not necessary, but it adds a personal touch and buyers appreciate knowing when to expect their packages.
