| Is this good lunch time etiquette? Maybe it’s just me, but I this makes me mad. Say you are meeting a friend for lunch. You both work at offices and get an hour lunch. The place that you pick is closer for your friend, than it is for you. When you agree to meet at a certain time, you understand that your friend will probably arrive there before you do, but that doesn’t bother you. But when you arrive to the restaurant, you find your friend either at the front of the line, placing their order OR already sitting down at a booth with their order placed. And there is a huge line of people ahead of you. When you finally get around to placing your order and sitting down at the booth with your friend, their order has already been filled and brought to the table and they are eating it. Do you think it’s rude for them to go ahead and order and get their food before you, while you are sitting there, watching them eat and waiting for your food? Shouldn’t they have waited for you to arrive and ordered at the same time as you? |

| Yes, the person who gets there first should wait for the other person to arrive so that they can order at the same time. If there's another sudden commitment or good reason that they have to hurry up, a simple apology should be fine. |
