Etiquette answerers, Please help me here?

One executive who works in another department wanted me to fill up some list and send. I refused and told her that am busy with something else and will do it post lunch. She complained to two of my colleagues one of them being my boss. Boss called me and questioned me. I said she did not have the right manners to ask me in a nice way with a please and then she starts shouting. Thats why I told her I would do it and send it to her later. Was I wrong or right? He told me to do it properly without delaying since this report is v important and if the managing director came to know it would end in a problem. I just stuck to the truth telling him that she didnt know how to ask asking very rudely. So what is your take? please be nice... I learn very well but please give genuine advice

If she told you that it was important then you should have either done it or checked with your boss if you have other important things to do.

If she was rude then you should report that to your boss rather than let it come in the way of doing your job. Dealing with these things should be left to managers

Sometimes we need to take a person's character into account but we may not always know them.

Everyone has basic human rights no matter where you are and if someone asks something of you they should ask you politely.

In this case it sounds as if this person may not like you but that still does not give them the right to be rude to you. They should then therefore ask you in a professional and diplomatic manner and your boss needs to recognise this.

If this person was very rude and your boss wants to threaten you with the fact that the managing director would find out then let him find out. Don't be scared of your boss. Respect them but don't fear them.

There should be some office etiquette, but it depends is she a supervisor? Is what she asked you part of your job description?
If she is higher on the ladder then you and what was asked of you was something you should be doing, then it's rare you will get a please and thank you with it..however, if she is a co-worker and you were being asked to do something as a favour, and she was rude then you have every right to tell her to piss off!
Of course your boss just wants harmony in the office, so he doesn't care whose toes get stepped on as long as the work gets done.!

I wished I was there to stick up for you. But, as you know many times bosses can be insensitive to subordinates and you just have to take it with a grain of salt. Of course, she was wrong by not asking you politely. But 2 wrongs don't make a right. Next time just comply with the request or clear the request with your boss. In the future, if her attitude continues to be rude or indifferent, put in a complaint or speak to her directly about the way she's talking down to you. That should take care of the problem.

he will be amused with the fact that two girls are fighting (yet again). men love a cat fight. spare him the enjoyment. do the job and later on tell the woman to be more polite.
