Wedding invitation etiquette?

My cousin is getting married in August (I'm the bridesmaid). When should she send out the invites, and how much time should she give for guests to RSVP?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

My recommendation is to send out the invites so they arrive at people's homes 8 weeks before the wedding. Make the RSVP date 4 weeks before the wedding...she will need to call the non-RSVPers.
