Is there a right for claim if a person has been residing in a family lot for

ten years and above?
A friend of mine has been residing for more than ten years in their family house. The problem is, the title of the lot is named after her eldest sister. Does she have any right to claim for a portion in that lot? Thanks

You may be talking about "Adverse Possession".

There are a number of requirements for this, and the two biggest ones for most people is the length of time, and that the entry must have been without permission to begin with.

The length of time varies by state in the US, and sometimes it shortens it to be paying the taxes or have what appears to be a valid deed, but for some reason isn't. It can be fifteen years in some places.

If you started as a renter, you can't adversely possess.

Do a web search on "Adverse possession" and your state/country and see what you find.
