Does the respect for the woman seem to be gone once she decides to stay home...

...with her family? I noticed now and then you meet a couple, she quits and decides to stay at home and have kids, and then the respect from her husband fades. Why do you think this happens?

That is not what I have seen. I think most men value a woman's work at home or outside the home. If they don't, then they should try to me a stay-at-home dad for a week and see how had it is!

gee that sounds depressing = but i'm sure she made the decision she felt was right for the family at the time. and then the relationship structure between her and her husband is different. they spend more time apart then they do together, with different daily routines and objectives = and if they don't make the effort to do things together regularly, they drift apart. And unfortunately i guess the business of life gets in the way and people forget why they fell in love in the first place.
maybe it's not a matter of respect or disrespect, but of 'dis' communication and forgetfulness, as horrible as that sounds in a relationship.

Because he then feels like he has to support her and he's the one doing all the hard work. Most men don't see raising children and cleaning house as work.
