Is it wrong to go against your family's expectations........?

I am finding it hard to be my own person around part of my family. I have different beliefs and I guess what I am trying to say is should I just let them deal with it?

No its not wrong..You are not them they are not you..You are your own person...I mean I understand they expect certain things from you..but not eveerything...sometimes I think when your family expects something from you..it puts alot of stress on you and it leads to problems

Yes, you be true to yourself because you can't make everybody happy...Learn that lesson right now and you will save yourself a lot of heartaches.

Yes. They will get over it. They want you to be happy not a puppet. If they wanted a puppet they would have bought a kermit the frog and not had children!!! As long as what you believe in is right in your heart..they should support you!! Be yourself and love yourself for being you!!

take a look back and see if what they expect is not for you its your life and regardless of the ones around you only you can live it go for whats in your heart

i think you should be yourself and not care whether or not you live up to someone elses expectations. the only expectations you need to live up to are your own.

I totally understand how you feel, because I, myself is in the same situation. My family's got expectations for me that I think are totally wrong, however, in their eyes I'm just immature and don't have a clue about anything. They think the decision they make for me is the right decision, and you know what? they may be right, maybe they do see some things that I don't see. but as of this moment i know in my heart that what they want for me is not what i want for myself, so I've decided to just follow my heart and do whatever I believe is right and hope it leads me to the right direction, because after all this is MY life and not theirs, and if one day I realized that what they've told me has been right all along at least by then I'd know whats it like to do things my way and wouldn't have any regrets. So I hope this will help you, just follow your heart and do what YOU think is best for YOU.

No, it's not. For all you know, your family's expectations are wrong, and they will not let you grow as an individual. But that's the key. You're an individual. I'm not saying, get a tattoo because it's against your families expectations. But, you know, try to make the best decisions.
