Isnt it wrong to be forced to accept people as family?

Im 18, when i was 11 my cousin whos is in his 40s now married some woman who at the time had a grown 18 yr old daughter, I was invited to my AUnts house(his mom) , the wifes whole family was there and i was told "this is your new family"
It was very confusing, especially since im from NYC and italian and these people are from Alabama and are baptists.
Theyve never been friendly to me yet after all these years im forced to go out there for thanksgiving, summer. Theytake s hots at me saying "NYC is a terrible place i would never live there", or they make fun of my clothes.. Then they criticizing me.
Yea im 18 and i want nothing to do with my cousin, his wifes family, etc. I think the guy is a jerk, he doesnt have any kids with his wife and he paid for her daughters wedding, her house and he supports the daughter and her husband..
i want to cut them off., they dropped my Mom off at home cause they were visiting, i saw the car when i was walking in the street and walked the other way
i think they saw what i did, My Mom says its a disgrace that i am not going to see them this june, she started screaming on the top of her lungs and told me "GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE" "HOW DARE U DISGRACE ME"

I think my mother is wrong to force me to be with these people.
My father took off along time ago and she had to rely on my Aunt for money so i think she became like a slave to her sisters family..
im starting college in september and i dont want any part of this.
I was also told if i dont visit my cousin this summer the entire family will be mad at me and i will be disowned and my cousin will be angry with me, and may cut me off.
I aso think this borderlines on abuse
The cousin also told me the only reason the college accepted me was to fill a quota.

He doesnt even know about my grades, he only talks to me twice a year.
