When others go on and on about their family & I can't?

Sometime I get so sad when others talk so much about their kids, grandkids, and family life when they know I have no relatives living nearby and we have no children. Makes me feel there's no other common ground for friendships hard as I try, so I feel so left out. How do I deal with this?
