Is there a deeper issue going on with my family ?

My father hasn't been speaking with both my mom and my younger brother for nearly 3 weeks. According to my mom, it started when my younger brother asked him to move his car so he have some room to park his behind it. My dad claimed that he never got a Thank you and he hasn't spoke to him since. A few days ago he complained to my brother about using up too much electricity for his computer and AC. When my brother confronted him about this he asked him to move out of the house.
At the same time, he first got upset with my mom when she didn't have dinner ready at a certain time. Afterwards, he said she treats him like a dog and that was the last time they spoke. When I visit, them it's feels very awkward and tense, everyone avoids each other. During the week, both my mom and brother have been leaving for work early and coming home late just to avoid seeing him. I tried getting them to talk to each other but my dad is unwilling to do this ? Is there a deeper issue going on here...?
Also, My mom also told me that she was planning on moving out of the house and she said she had planning on doing this for some time. This isn't the first time this has happened either. It almost happened about 10 years ago for pretty much the same reason. My dad usually had blowups like this in the past with all of us for different reasons. Then after a period of time he'll act like it never happened but he'll never apologize or admit any wrong doing.
I'm 26..BTW and I don't live at home.
