Sims 2: I Can't Save My Families! Why Does It Freeze?

I have Sims 2 Deluxe (Sims 2 + Nightlife in 1 cd).
I have custom content from modthesims2.com and I love the new clothes for my simmys!
The only problem is that when i go to save a new family after making them in create-a-sim, my computer freezes. Its always on the blue screen before it goes to the neighborhood.

I can build and decorate houses for hours but i can't make a simple 2 person family!
I've reinstalled my game once already and i deleated all of my custom content for another problem (but i did get some back. I dont think that thats the problem). Its very frusturating.

Any advice on what i should to or why this is happening...
I dont have a virus because i just did a virus scan of my entire computer yesterday. This has been happening for about a week. And i only started downloading stuff 2 days ago. I lost my cd for a while.
And yes, I did post this twice, but only because i didnt get an answer that helped me.
