Why won't my husband quit smoking for his family?

Ever since I met my husband, he has been promising me to quit smoking. At that time, I had a 2 year old son, now, after 7 years together, we have a total of 4 sons (inc. my first son). We never have enough money to pay the bills, yet he continues to smoke. Am I being petty? I really could use some advice on this because I am at my wits end. He also drinks A LOT of Pepsi, Red Bulls, and Monster Energy drinks, which are costly as well. Not only is he spending a lot of money on unhealthy things, but he is making his family suffer. We've only taken one vacation since we met, to a campground only one hour away. I'd like to be able to take my children on trips....even another camping trip, but we NEVER have enough money. I DID mention that it was unhealthy.....also, the vacation was just an example. I'm not talking a European vacation here! Heck, we can't even afford to go to the local Putt-Putt course!!!!! Gees!!!!!
I've also asked him many times to quit because I don't want him to die. The kids and I even made a pamphlet showing their sad faces of how they would look if he died of lung disease.....seriously, I did....and it didn't help at all.
