| My muslim family disowned me because my son isn't circumcised- is it right of them?
my father is from pakistan and my mother is english, we have been brought up muslim attend mosque and I have read the quran. 4 years ago I met an english girl and we got married, did the Nikkah and then later married in an english ceremony for her side of the family.
i haven;t really practiced islam since I left home, I am muslim but not devout. 4 months ago my wife gave birth to our son and ever since then my family has dictated how we should be bringning him up. I have married and english women (non religious) and I am not practicing islam we both agreed that our son would be brought up seeing both cultures, hers and mine.
my family have said that we should circumcise our son, my wife is against it because she feels it is too painful and I am liberal in my thinking so haven't pushed to get it done.
my family have told me that i am disowned because i am bringning my son up confused and because he is not circumcised they don't wanto to see him, me or my wife - is this fair?
