Why do people in England WORSHIP the royal family?

Iv been asking this question for a long time, and i still dont know the answer.
What is it that makes or encorages these people to treat the royal family like gods?
I dont understand.

The royal family are celebrities. Why do Americans worship movie stars or athletes? It is all the same.

Here goes I am a POMMIE,But have never thought of Royalty as GODS or even thought of worshipping them.I think it is just a stigma that people have.Brought on by parents.OK in the old days I suppose they were looked upon as great leaders,But thinking what do they actually do?Ok open a few new buildings,Fetes,Galas,attend a few meetings.Appear in public when they think fit to do so.But do they do anything for the supposing public that WORSHIP them,the answer is no.What they couldn't even send a representative to Sir Edmond Hillary's funeral.Now he was someone people worshipped.So by now you will probably know i am no Worshipper.
