Cheap meal ideas for a family of 5 (2 adults, 17, 13 and 1 1/2 yr. old)...?

my bf had to take a job making less than he's used to making and we're trying to save money anywhere we can. just looking for inexpensive (yet still tasteful) meal ideas.

If you buy cheaper, tougher cuts of meat, use your slow cooker - that way they will get nice and tender. Also use dried beans - a bag is cheap. Soak them as directed and use them in soups, stews, etc. Beans are filling and good for you.
