Why do people want to make a person that doesn't attend their family members wedding?

out to be horrible person?

That is just flat out wrong to do them like that. I think they should have told the person who was getting married that they wouldn't be able to come and be polite, but in either case, you shouldn't try and judge them as being selfish or heartless for it either.

There is alot more meaner stuff going on these days than "Oh Joe or Jane didn't go to someone's wedding and its so rude".

Boy! This fun question to answer because I am one that hate to attend parties. One, I hate wearing the suit, I don't have big belly like most white American do, so I don't have to hide my belly behind the suit and I still look good, and it is unfair for man to wear the suit all the time, but woman can wear almost any thing they like to attend parties.
Two, in Portland Laotian community every week end two days/week 52 weeks/year you got at least two invitations for BD party or Wedding party, or funeral (can I call Party too). It is politely suggest that at least you have your gift worth $30 to help the cost for the host. Let's see: $30X2daysX52weeks=$3120 per year at least. To add more salt into the wound, almost all Laotian wedding party they got to have two big ceremonies Western style at night and Laotian culture style during the day. Tell you the truth, I don't care much to attend Wedding Parties and BD Parties despite my wife said I am stingy and unsocialized person. I mostly chose to attend funeral and wearing the most uncomfortable suit.
