I think you need a passport for everyone, but if you have military ID, and that works to get you across borders, then that should do you. The whole family needs to be covered, though, so, unless they ALL have MID, or are covered with yours, they will need passports.

Passports are NOT needed for LAND travel to Canada yet. That requirement has no set date to be implemented, but will probably be summer 2009. Each adult will need a photo I.D. and a certified birth certificate. Children will need a certified birth certificate. See site below to raed the current passport law for your self...you will see that it says you need a photo I.d. and a proof of citizenship...which can be a passport OR a birth certificate.
