Why is it important for us to learn about our family health history? What...

...can it tell us? We are doing a project in science but we really haven't studied this. Please help!

There are many chronic ailments that run in families...high blood pressure, high cholesterol, for instance....and many diseases...diabetes, cancer, heart problems...that can be made manageable by knowing beforehand that there is a great risk of them appearing in you.
For instance, your grandfather had diabetes, and your father was diagnosed with it in his early 40's....by knowing that there is a history of it in your family, you can look for the early symptoms, be aware of them, and add years to your life by taking steps to get tested and treated early.

it tells you what diseases run in your family. it can tell you what you are more likely of getting. It could also involve genetics which could lead to what your children may have at birth or develop.
