| If you could write one letter to every Iraqi or every Iraqi family, then as...
...and American what would it say? All of us Americans with a conscience have to feel bad about how the lives the the typical Iraqi has been turned upside down. We all know Saddam was a horrible man and deserved to be taken out of power and punished, but many of the current citizens find themselves in a far worse place today than they did 6 or 7 years ago. What would you write them, to give them hope and to show them that you as an American Care. I have found a friend who speaks the Iraqi dialect of Arabic and will help me translate a letter. I am thinking of sending a letter to people across Iraq and hopefully getting some letters back. Please write what you would write to the average Iraqi and if you would possibly like to start a conversation with a random citizen of hopefully our new ally in the middle east, then let me know. Perhaps we can do this! And perhaps we can change the opinions of many Iraqis who absolutely hate Americans. I know I've already changed one, by showing care and compassion.
Also, please try and leave politics out of your message. I want to spread hope, support, and care. Not bring up negative feelings about people we hate or how ideally things should of worked out better. I personally beleive the last thing I would want to hear if I haven't had running water or electricity in months or my son was recently killed is well at least you don't have a dictator in charge right now. My idea is simply based around Americans showing Iraqis that we care about them as individuals and we hope that things will start improving in their lives and in their country. Thanks!
Perhaps Km is right. It can be very hard to change peoples viewpoints once they are cemented in their heads. Either way though, everyone has suffered through this horrible war.
