Trip for family wedding. Why is it SO much cheaper for 2 roundtrip air

Trip for family wedding. Why is it SO much cheaper for 2 roundtrip air

tickets than sep. one-way tickets? Online, using Expedia etc, I priced out taking roundtrip tickets to our final destination, and the price is pretty reasonable.

But before the wedding, my husband & I may want to drive to visit other friends and wanted to make the first leg of the trip to airport #1, vist for a day, then the next day, drive up to the wedding; stay a few days and then leave later that week, from airport #2 to come home.

Putting together the trip with a couple of one-way tickets is like $2000 where our 2 round trip tickets was only $880. For both of us. Total.

Am I crazy or does that seem weird!?!?!?
