Title and author of romance book about woman with a large Irish family?!?!?

The book is a romance novel(contemporary) a/b a young girl who has a large Irish American family. They pretty much all live and rule in one town and are very influential. As a child, the young woman befriends a poor young man from the "wrong side of the tracks",he is stigmatized b/c of where he lives and b/c of his family. They share a close bond and for some reason that i can't remember, her family takes the him in. But when the girl is almost raped by the boy's father, her family sends the boy away (even though he saved her) Years past, and the girl is now a reporter in a city or something like that and the young man is very successful and rich. Their paths cross again when she is forced to go back home b/c the town is in an uproar because the man plans on either destroying or building on the land that he grew up on. She also gave him an nickname as a child- Ronny or something like that

THIS MAY BE A LOT OF INFO BUT I LOVED THIS BOOK BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER THE TITLE OR AUTHOR. HELP!
