What to do when you your boyfriends family disaproves of you? 10 points?

My boyfriend moved in with me and my 7 year old daughter a year and 1/2 ago. We talk of marriage and are waiting until we have enough money to get things going. He bought me and him both prmise rings. His mother noticed the rings at dinner one night and gave my boyfriend a weird look. Well the other evening when I was in the other room. She asked him why we are wearing rings....and he told her they are promise rings and that we plan on getting married. He told her he's not screwing around and wants to be with me. She said "but you are screwing around". He got up and walked away. She also doesnt believe with a couple living together before marriage and I dont know what to do to make her like me more. I work hard and support myself and my daughter. What do you think?
