Why isn't the slave master considered part of your family?

If you're of slave decent and the slave master raped your great-great grandmother isn't he technically your grandfather? So why don't people include the slave master in their family tree? I'm of slave decent and this is my case but other black people don't feel this way. It's obvious in me though cause I'm really light. Family isn't always good but they are still family, right?
I understand that it's not always a good thing but sometimes it's really obvious.
