Meeting family?

You've invited someone emotionally close to you (not necessarily romantically) to meet your family ... and they've said they don't want to. Are you offended?

I try not to be offended about anything without knowing the reason why. Has the other party said why they are not interested in meeting your folks?

Back in college I once turned down an invitation to meet a friend's family. Her and I were not really a couple but we were more than friends. I didn't know how to handle the situation and I had no idea what her family's image of me was. I was afraid that they expected me to be her boyfriend. You can say I was immature about it.

Without know why the other party opted out you can resolve the issue. Talk to them, friendships to relationships with everything in between, none of it is easy.

Not at all. I hate meeting people's family. And I try to avoid people meeting my family, because they're a bunch of asshats.

Did they really use the word "don't want"? Or did they give a decent excuse? If they openly said the first, they are very rude and do not deserve your attention nor being invited...Do not feel bad at all !
