Has anyone here ever successfully appealed to get more financial aid...?

... when your EFC was very high?

My family's official EFC is about three times higher than what we can actually afford. Have any of you ever had an admissions office take pity on you and give you more aid than you supposedly "need"?
(I have already been accepted to my top choice, but they didn't give me any financial aid, and if I don't get any, I can't go.)
