Financial Aid question?

I applied for financial aid for the 2008-2009 school year. My application has already been processed. I have decided not to attend the school that I entered on the application. What should I do? How can I not accept the award I get? I may decide to choose a school closer to home. Can I just change the school preference? Please help.

You should go the the FAFSA website, http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and click on "Add or Delete a School Code." Delete the school you don't want and enter the school you do want. Remember to put in your housing plans.

You should actually be able to resubmit your FAFSA to the bureau with the new school selections and they will reprocess it.

There is an option to "update" it. This is what you will want to do.

Just be aware that since it is so late past the January 1 "mark," you might get a lower return than had you stuck with your current choice.

Good luck to you!

Go to http://fafsa.ed.gov and select "Add a school code" to add a new school. If you get any letters from the old school, just ignore it or if it gives you the option of "declining" aid then do that. If you haven't been accepted or applied to the school you probably won't get anything offered to you anyway.

you can resubmit your fafsa as many times as you like ( i had to do mine like 3 or 4 times), you can add up to 6 schools i believe so just add any of them, just make sure to add at least 1 from your state or you will not get any state aid even if you do stay closer to home. you will get an offer of aid from each school, which will include pell grants (if eligible), state grants and scholarships, any other scholarships and grants, and any loan offers , so ***PLEASE*** put in your top 6 school choices of those schools you applied or got accepted to, you will get an offer from EACH SCHOOL, not from the federal or state government specifically
