| Can anyone give me a list of large colleges that offer a lot of financial aid?
All of the schools I've found so far that offer a lot of financial aid are small (which is expected, I know), but I'd really like to go to a big college (more than 3,000 undergraduates) that offers at least 75% financial aid. Can anyone provide a list or know where I can find a list of big schools (not Ivy League) that offer good finaid? I know about need and all that, but on collegeboard, there's a category that "average percent of need met." I've heard that NYU is terrible with financial aid. Sure, it covers 68%, but their tuition is about 50k per year including room and board. Too bad, as it's my dream school. |

Come to New Zealand to study. If you go to the University of Otago there are NO fees for doing your degree. The other University's in New Zealand are very competitive and our Degree programmes are up there with the best in the world. Surely the cost of the airfare would be less than the fees you would be paying in the US?! |

As far as I know the financial aid is separate from the school. You might find the same ratio everywhere. What you could do is go to a school that actually offers you a reasonable deal price-wise for your credit hours. After all, that will make your loan go further. Sorry I have no specifics... That's good that you're shopping around! Good luck on finding the right school.

The colleges/universities have a set amount of financial that they are able to give each individual student and that amount is set according to need, number of hours the student is taken and the federal government. If your federal pell grant is not enough to pay for the entire cost of classes (and it won't) you can take out a small student loan to help with the rest of the amount. Another thing that you must consider is that the larger the university, the more expensive it is going to be.

your best bet is to go to a school in your state which is cheaper, you won't have to pay outer state tuition, which is always like another 10 thousand, plus you get extra financial aid being in state like TAP, financial aid is based on need and the state funds, the school can also give you financial aid if needed. you should try look for programs that help out with that. Example NY they have EOP or HEOP with is a program that you have to apply for extra financial aid its EOP for public school and HEOP for private. they combine your tap, school grants and give you and extra 5,000 plus book money every semester. I don't know if they have that in other state but just check the application, their should be a box that ask if you wanna apply for that program this way you don' t have to worry about going to a big school, NYU also has this program HEOP the check box is on the application! BUT YOU HAVE TO BE AN INSTATE RESIDENCE Key |
