I would like to go to school...but...?

I have 2 little boys at home and one on the way...i'm not married so i know there is assistance available, but i don't know exactly where to find it or where to get started. I don't live near any colleges, so i would be looking into a distance learning through Penn State Univ., but it is like $500 a credit...i don't think that's covered with financial aid. Anyone who has any ideas would be helpful. I'm so tired of my $10.35/hr. dead end job. (This is a high paying job with no education in this area) I can't go to school and work at the same time, i would never do that to my kids, but this school is all evening classes and it's 3 days a week, which wouldn't be bad at all.

Can you give it a trial period? Maybe find a cheaper method of daycare or a neighboor that can help you? That way you can see if you and your kids can manage it. Speaking of finance, I know a lot of colleges have financial aid avaliable to those who need it. If not, you can take a loan and pay it off once you get a job.

Fill out the Financial Aid (FAFSA) form which you can do online and also call the University and ask if you can set up an appointment with an adviser who can help you search fro scholarships and other forms of assistance. Do not try to use private loan companies as you cannot combine those loans with your federal ones and they usually charge a much higher interest rate

You say you want to go to school, but listen to yourself. Every other word in the sentence there is an excuse for not going. If you really want to go, go. If not use you energy for some thing else.If you live in the USA, go to social services, food stamps will get you started. There is financial aid. There are schools where they take care of your kids. The gov. will pay you a salary to go to school. No excuses. Look in the tele. book. Look in the gov. blue pages under the Federal and county gov.You seem like a smart person. You are on the right track. Do it for your children. Good-luck! God bless.
