Take out federal Stafford loans first before you commit to taking out private loans. Stafford lending at the grad level is $8500 Subsidized Stafford, and $12,000 Unsubsidized Stafford per year. After that consider taking out the Graduate Plus loan. Unlike the undergrad product for parents, the Grad Plus allows the grad student to apply and receive the loan instead of their parents. It is a fixed interest rate (8.5%) loan through the govt that carries all the same benefits of the Stafford loans. These are your best options at the grad level.

You must be enrolled at least half-time. You must not be in default on any education loan or owe a refund on an education grant. Below, we have highlighted the specific steps for completing the Stafford Loan processhttp://best-loans.awardspace.com/student-loans.htmThe FAFSA is the first and most important step towards getting a Stafford Loan; you can't get a loan without filing yours, and it's also free.
