First Aid Finger?

i cut the side of my middle finger in school and i went to the infirmary and the school nurse got this metal finger out and got some sterile gauze and done something amazing,

But what is the name of this metal finger??

it's a finger splint and you can buy them in most chemists with a first aid counter. They are usually plastic in the shops.

the metal was a splint and i think i know exactly what you're taling about. did she use the splint and the gauze to make a gauze only bandage on your finger? she would have put on the metal splint and then covered it with the gauze and pulled up the splint and sinned it around and put it back on to create a bandage that covered most of your finger... sound about right??
