I can't use my first aid spray in Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition. Please read...

...description!? I am at the lake monster and I need to refuel my life gauge and I have two first aid sprays. My life gauge is already red, but when I go to my inventory, it only has the choices combine, discard, or examine. Their is no "use" option. Also, my olny source so far to regain the gauge is eating GREEN plants and chicken eggs. I can't even "use" yellow or red plants. Someone please help me! Thank you!
