| food service industry and breaks? How does the food service industry (restaurants primarily) get away with not giving its employees the 30-60 min breaks that is mandatory by law for full time workers in the work place? Virtually every job that i've attained in this industry is that way; work an 8 hr shift non stop mayham and taking a break is only good for one thing... getting you in the weeds or simply ticking your boss off because you're not being productive. I understand that working with food is a fast paced (not to mention "relentless") job, but cutting to the chase... really... why does it suck this bad and how do employers get away with this? By the way, i don't want any gun-ho people giving answers like "if you can't keep up then don't step up", answers like that are bound to come and i could frankly care less about them; i'm looking for answers with actual depth to them involving matters such as laws/regulations and legal loop holes that may be used by this industry. |
