school food service taking a loss for free lunch?

I was just wondering if anyone knows if schools get money for people who have free lunch like by the government or if they are just required to take a loss for it?

They somtimes require losses but most schools dont require loss prive schools will probley require loss!

In California, it is funded by the state government (which means that my state income tax and real estate tax and sales tax pays for it). I also think there is a federal subsidy too (which means my federal income tax pays for it).
