Is my boyfriend's friend in love with me?

I've known my boyfriend and his best friend since we were about 8 yrs old...so its been about 15 years. I've been dating my boyfriend for almost 8 yrs now. The three of us are pretty close.

Once I was laying around and my boyfriend's best friend came over and smacked my butt to say Hi. He'll give me hugs and stuff in front of my boyfriend. He'll also call me about once a week just to talk. He'll also be at my boyfriend's house more than me and ask him if I would be coming over. He always sends me a thank you card if I ever give him a small gift. Whenever we watch a movie, he always goes out of his way to sit next to me.

My boyfriend thinks that his friend is in love with me, but he doesn't do anything about it cuz he knows that I don't care. I just thought that his best friend was just lonely or something hahaha.
