My guy friend and I had a convo about crushes...please tell me what he meant by

this!!!!!!? My guy friend and i have been doing this lately (which makes me think he likes me):

We text several times a day.
We chat about 2-3 hours every night (but maybe he's just bored)
We have all the same classes, and I tend to catch him looking at me often, but that could just be a friend thing too.
He calls me randomly sometimes.
His friends always give me funny smiles (but maybe they just think I like him).
AND, he texted me 20x yesterday! Most of those texts being from midnight to 12:30am!

When we were talking yesterday, we got onto the subject of crushes. We were talking about all our friends & their crushes. Then I said "I have something better though! And it's about you actually!". He didn't reply for a while, and then said "haha. I don't wanna know about me!". I said "how could you not? That would bug me!". He said "I dunno haha. It may make things awkward." Does that mean he was scared I'd tell him I liked him & he doesn't feel the same? Or am I reading too much into it
