Dating an ex's best friend, is it off limits?

I dated a girl ten years ago, for which the relationship ended due to mutual feelings in regards to her feelings for an ex-boyfriend of hers. Now at the age of 32 I have crossed paths with her best friend for which we find each other interested in one another, however my ex is against it. We are very compatable. We have talked for two weeks, however struggle with the next step.

I am dating my ex's best friend. He is happy for us and we actually double date with my ex's new girlfriend. I would say if the relationship ended ten years ago, than she needs to get over it.

She obviously has the mentality that if she doesnt have you then her frind cant either. Your friend needs to understant that it is your life. This relationship is not going to be easy by the fact that your ex know alot about you and she might want to jepordise the relationship by telling her your bad side. But if you think that this is worth it then go for it.
