Let me tell you a bit about my friend: she was barely 21 years old, a virgin, and usually pretty shy around guys. One day she met a man – she works as a cashier in a drugstore, and he was one of her regular vendors – and they flirted back and forth for a few months. Finally he asked for her phone number and they started going to the clubs together, though without any romantic implications; he usually brought 2 or 3 other friends with them. At the end of one of these evenings, he invited her into his apartment and she went along innocently. Once there, he pushed her onto his bed and started kissing her and taking her clothes off. She told him no and tried to push him away, but he persisted. She gave in after several minutes, not out of desire, but because she realized he wouldn’t let her leave without sleeping with him. Was this rape? I say yes, but she says no because maybe deep down, she wanted it. What are your opinions?
