I would be there 100% for her. I use to work with children with special needs for 12 years and loved my job and that did include children with down syndrome. They have their own little personalities :-) I would encourage her to have the baby because there is tons of help available now so she could still have her baby and have a support system to help her.

ok first of all i think we can all MOSTY (HOPEFULLY) agree that the Nazi's aren't exactly the type we should be taking advice from let alone on life!!!! personally i will tell you this yes people can be cruel but as a woman who is 36 weeks pregnant who decided they wanted NO TESTS for downs syndrome and helped to take care of an elderly woman with down syndrome they do not know any better yes sure they look differently but the love those people have is never ending they have compassion and happiness they have is something i only WISH we could all experience they aren't stressed about life they are happy with who they are and they can talk and so all of the things that we can do so to answer your question stand by your friend no matter what they decide to do because THAT is what a friend does they listen and support no matter what but be sure to let your friend no that those tests aren't 100% accurate and besides in 4 weeks when my son is born if he did have down syndrome to me it's the way it was meant to be

I'm not a nazi. I opted not to have the downs test because of this very reason. If she wants this baby everyone has to except it's "imperfections". I like to think that god give these special babies to mothers or fathers who will love and only have their bet interest at heart. If she didn't want it there are people out there that adopt downs kids. And you don't even now the severity of he downs many downs kids go on to live lives like mine and yours.

I'd probably try to push her to have an abortion. People are cruel, and I think we all know how people usually treat a child that is mentally retarded. I wouldn't want a child to suffer like that. Emotionally and physically. I would try and have respect for the child, but I'm human, and sometimes do think badly about the mentally retarded.

I do not support abortion, but if a woman chose it and did it I would try to support her emotionally and help her heal. It's fair to grieve over the baby you thought you had but didn't, but you gotta accept the child you do have in the end.

Yeah the nazi's would have judged my beautiful, kind, intelligent little Jewish children mistakes, too. That says far more about them than about me and my children. I would support any pregnant friend, why would I not? And if she needed more because she was preparing for a special needs baby, I'd support her more. Period.

My cousin is actually a down's child. They really are in no way a mistake. I would absolutely support her. BUT not only should you support the mother but also the child as well, believe me you will not regret supporting any child. Children with down's are very sweet, caring, smart, determined, and they all have their own abilites.
