i like him, he needs a friend, but nothing more.?

we've been talkin for 3 months , initially came on strong, we would talk alot, then things got awkward, we made out a few times, fought a lil, made up, i havent seen him in a long time, i found out he is very depressed in general, and has been sicne before we met, he doestn like to leave his house or hang out with ppl, esp when it comes to making plans, he "rejected" me in the sense that he only wants a friend right now, but he cant have a gf. and that ppl who are this depressed dont want a bf/gf they need a friend more than anything. ive been angering him alot with the pressure of being more than friends, and he said that if it were anyone else he would have cut me off already, but b/c its me he didnt. he's cut off alot of his friends before, which is why hes more of a loner now with just a few good friends left. why does he still want me around, all i do is anger him and get him frustrated. i feel so bad about it, given his issues, but at the same time i wish he could see me as more.
i miss that we used to have so much to talk about, but i also understand that came with the novelty of getting to know someone new. im giving him some space now, and hopefully we can hang out again, after not seeig each other for so long. the whole situation is kinda depressing, but at the same time a bit relieving. sigh. lol

Your friend does have some serious issues and the best thing that you can do for him right now is to advise him to get some therapy. Good luck.
