Soo I have this friend?

Well lets see I have a friend right, she is ok until she gets to where she wants you to be with her every waking moment. We started being friends last summer, my step mom and her mom work together, so they introduced us. She was alright, I mean she didn't get on my nerves as bad as most people. But then when i started going to her school, I didn't really talk to her that much because of another issue. I mean i had a boyfriend already and I had made other friends as well. She wants to go all "we never hang out anymore, I miss you, and why aren't we as close as we used to be" on me and First of all, me and her were like never close. I never really trusted her. Besides that point, uhm I just don't like how clingy she is. Now I have decided to be nice so i am trying to hang out with her more. But how do I tell her to back off with out hurting her feelings. She is really tender hearted, and I don't liek to hurt feelings unless I have a reason too.
