I want to date my best friend, but I'm afraid he isn't interested. Any advice?

I'm in love with my best friend. We've been friends for almost two years and things are great. I don't want to ruin our friendship by trying to pursue anything, but I really like him.

Here's the hard part...he has a girlfriend that he won't get rid of. She's completely wrong for him, and he knows it, but he won't get rid of her.

What do I do? Should I give up?

(I'm 20 years old, he's 19...his girlfriend is 17...) We're both college freshman and she's only a senior.
