many of my friends say that the girl i like is a slut?

this girl in my school is so cool and so much fun to be around and i would like to go out with her but according to my friends they all say that shes a slut and has had sex with a kid in my school like 3 times and people say that she also drinks and smokes pot and shes not trashy she dresses nice and normal. I really her and i think she really likes me but im a good kid and i dont wanna get in over my head if i date her but i also really really like her. I want to maybe ask her about the sex and the drugs and see if its true but i dont even know how to bring that up in a conversation and if she will get weird or affended if i ask. please help! im also worried that if some of these rumors are true i will be upset cause i really like her but i dont want to date someone whos a little more experienced then me and that makes me sad. help
