URGENT! i think my friend is suicidal?

my friend clare is at breaking point at this stage... i need help! i know she's upset, but she won't talk to me... i've seen three huge scabs running across her arm today, and i know she did it herself... she doesn't talk to me anymore, she just sits by herself, playing with her fingernails. its not like her at all, and i'm terrified! whenever i try and get her to open up, she just puts on this cheesy grin and insists she's fine. how can i help her if she won't let me? i know what she's capable of, and it's not a good sign... is there ANYTHING at all i can do?
