When you have friends/family going through personal issues?

Do you find them emotionally draining?? I know I'm going through some personal issues in my life but I don't like or want to be a burden or emotionally draining to any of my friends.

My family is very uptight when it comes to the personal things. They don't carry on about it. It's the British in us. I unburden myself in my journal or to my best friend and I'm done with it. If my BF was around I'd turn to him.

Some times it is really emotional draining ..it is a very personal time after all so I suppose its only natural to have it all affect your friends as well

No I'm not going through anything, but when growing up with a doctor for a dad, man I seen him come home at nights not saying a word hardly. A few days later I would find out he had a close friend and patient to have died, or he seen something terrible at work. I do know how that feels. God, your God be with you now, he'll or she'll keep you strong. Love Sam

I know what you mean. I mean sometimes I feel like I don't want to tell people things, because I don't want to get them upset.
Also, I feel as if when people tell me their problems, sometimes it's too overwhelming and makes me sad. I sometimes just don't know what to say.
Just don't be afraid to share your feelings sometimes. It's NEVER good to hold them in. If you're afraid of telling your family and friends your personal issues, you could see a counselor, or therapist.
It's a great way to get everything out.
