My friends make me feel horrible about this guy I like because of age..

what do you think? I really like this guy. He seems to be really sweet.. all around good person. We have a lot of the same interests and enjoy doing the same things and I would highly consider him to be a potential future bf... The only thing about this situation is he's 18 and I'm 20.. and I'll be 21 before he turns 19.. My friends make fun of me all the time and bash him for only being 18. They tell me that I'm not gonna be happy with this situation because of the awkward age difference... What are your thoughts? Do you think he's too young for me?
