I want to be friends with certain people but they dont want to be.?

I have very few friends, great friends tho. But im in my GCSE year at school and i kinda feel like i should stop all this bitchin and arsing about and just get on with the people in my year. There was never any tension between them but i want to get to know more people. My friends at the minute are making loads of new friends within my year and i try too aswell but it doesn't always go as well and it makes me feel so alone because my life in junior school was never that great .
I just want to be able to hang out with people and them not think about me differently.
